Tuft Your Own Rug – Beginner Workshop in Melbourne

Choose from 2 sizes:

MINI RUG
Time: 2.5 hrs
Makes: 1 X 30cm x 30xm Mini Rug / Home Decor
Cost: $150

LARGE RUG
Time: 3.5 hrs
Makes: 1 X 55cm x 55cm Rug / Wall-hanging
Cost: $230

What you’ll do:
Learn the art of tufting and create a one-of-a-kind custom rug in this hands-on workshop at Bayside Makerspace in Chelsea, Melbourne. Perfect for beginners, you’ll choose your design (use our stencils or BYO!), select your yarn colours, and bring your rug to life using a tufting gun.

You’ll be guided through each step—from tufting technique and carving to gluing and finishing—leaving with a handmade rug and a brand new creative skill.

What you need to bring:
Just your creative curiosity, close toed shoes, no loose clothing and hair tied back!

Beginner-friendly workshop

*IMPORTANT
Important note for bookings for 13 yrs old+ minimum age: Must be accompanied by an adult. The adult accompanying will be responsible for ensuring the child follows safety rules.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

  • Yes - all tufting classes are designed for beginners 13yrs +.
