What you’ll do:
Learn the art of tufting and create a one-of-a-kind custom rug in this hands-on workshop at Bayside Makerspace in Chelsea, Melbourne. Perfect for beginners, you’ll choose your design (use our stencils or BYO!), select your yarn colours, and bring your rug to life using a tufting gun.
You’ll be guided through each step—from tufting technique and carving to gluing and finishing—leaving with a handmade rug and a brand new creative skill.

Curious about tufting? Try this fun beginner-friendly class in Chelsea and learn the basics of this bold and fluffy fibre art! In this taster session at Bayside Makerspace, you’ll create a small home decor piece like a mug rug or wall art—using yarn and a tufting gun.
You’ll be guided through the design, tufting, and finishing process step-by-step, with plenty of help to bring your idea to life. Perfect for first-timers wanting to dip their toes before tackling a full-sized rug which you can do in our longer Tuft a Custom Rug Workshop 3.5hr session making a 55cm rug.
