Always wanted to sew but never had a grandma to teach you those time-honoured skills? Don't want to invest in a sewing machine before you know you'll love it? Our supportive sewing community is here to guide you from your very first stitch.
Whether you're threading a machine for the very first time or already confidently making your own projects, our Sew & Grow workshops are designed to help you grow your skills in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Beginners and intermediate sewists will learn side by side, creating a welcoming community where everyone can share ideas, celebrate wins, and inspire each other. Don't worry about being "at the right level"—everyone works at their own pace, with guidance tailored to where they're at.
Bring along your own sewing project or start something new. Throughout the term, you'll have the freedom to sew what interests you while receiving personalised help whenever you need it.
Each session will also introduce a new sewing technique or skill, giving you the opportunity to build your knowledge and confidence while making steady progress on your own creations.
Whether you're hemming clothes, making gifts, tackling a pattern you've been putting off, or simply looking for dedicated creative time each week, these classes are all about enjoying the process, learning new skills, and becoming more confident with your sewing machine.

What you need to bring:
Your cretive enthusiasm, fabric and closures for your project if it’s clothing/home decor/bags. We will provide fabric for small beginner projects like scrunchies, pouches or bookmarks.
Experience needed:
Zilch! Just a keen curiosity to sew!
Time After-school Tween and Teens (10–18yrs): 4:00pm–6:00pm
Adults (18+): 6:30pm–8:30pm
Pricing
- Casual: $65 a session
- 3 session Class Pass (booked before term starts): $175 (save $20)
- Full 6 regular sessions: $340 (save $50)

Put your hair up and come to Bayside Makerspace ready to learn how to sew!

All sewing machines and tools such as pins, scissors, seam rippers with be provided. The Absolute Beginner series we’ll provide the fabric and materials to use but if you’re doing a Private lesson or the DIY Fashion series you’ll need to BYO fabric.

We absolutely love Bayside Makerspace! My 11yr old has just completed her 2nd term of the tween sewing series and she’s has learnt so much! Not just sewing skills, but patience, perseverance, organisation and new ways to express and celebrate her personal style - these classes are a great way to empower young girls to boldly be themselves!!
